Hi all,
I'm using jaws 7.0, ande i was wonderiing if anyone had this problem? I created a folder in which i have 49 mp3 files, actually it's files from a book I downloaded on librivox.org
Jaws 7.0 will arrow down so far, like to 25 or 26, then it will start saying blank. I can still make the file come up and startr playing in windows media player however, even if jaws sees blanks. The strange thing is, I have to press control end to get to the bottom of th elist, then jaws will skip one, as i move up, but it reads the list much better if i start at the bottom and arrow up than when i start at the top and arrow down. This is in a folder i created, but i don't have that problem in another folder where i only have 27 chapters of a book. There is another folder, not an mp3 folder, but just a folder of files that have about 69 files, but I don't have any problem arrowing down. I also have the problem arrowing down a list of mp3 files on my otr cd's if there are a lot of files on them. One of th etech folk on vipconduit suggested i do a jaws repair in jaws7 in case i did something to mess it up, but i can't see what i did that could have caused this situation. When i was trying to use flextalk, I adjusted my pixel settings in display properties, hoping that would make it read bettter with out all that spelling. My screen resolution is 800 by 400 pixels. I find I don't have this problem with jaws 6.0, at least not with my mp3 folder, haven't tried it with my cds, but i have a feeling its a problem with 7.0. It was also suggested I find a folder that jaws reads through well, and go in th eview menu and choose customize this folder, or something to that effect, but i thought i did thatwhen i changed xp to classic view where you choose all foldes to look the same. Any ideas how I can get jaws to read those folders better in my computer or windows explorer?

Hi Wonder Woman.

I don't know if it's a jaws 7 issue, but I doubt it. I'll bet if you ask a sighted person, that unreadable folder will look different from your other folders. Something to do with the fonts it was created with. I don't really have an answer, but I wanted to steer you away from the repair. That seems like over kill to me, and I don't think it would help anyway.

Just my babblings.

Hope it helps.

thanks bobby,
that jaws repair thingie didn't sound very good to me either, the techie on vip said all it does is just set everything back to the defaults if you messed something up. He does very good tutorials, and I've burned my first data cd using his totorial, but sometimes he's not all that good at answring questions. His first thought was that i messedsomething up in the configuration manager, but i can't imagine what i could've done that would've done that.

Well, I am also having that problem when I go to my computer. It is with all folders. am also using 7.0. I don't know what it is. However, when go to run, and type in c:, it reads everything. Wonderwoman, I would recommend trying to go to the run dialogue box, and type in the full path of the folder and see if that helps.

thanks nj, I might try that, but i'd have to do that every time i wantted to open that folder, or the folders on my otr cds. I think it might just serve me to just go ba cck to jaws 6.0 when i want to go through certain folders in my computer. Thanks for the suggestion though.

i use jaws 7 for somethings and have never come accross this problem. by the way, if you use a command in the run dialog it stays in a kind of history unless you have a program that cleans stuff like that

the run dialogue is too picky, I tried typing c:blackbeauty, and i got some dialoge saying it couldn't open th efolder. I don't use the run dialogue enough to know the full path of just any folder, so not sure if i should type c:blackbeauty.exe or c:blackbeauty.mp3.
